Meeting in Palermo 2023

Im Zeitraum vom 30.05 bis zum 01.06 haben sich die Mitglieder des BitTheSpectrum Projektes erneut zusammengefunden, um sich umfassend über aktuelle Entwicklungen auszutauschen und anstehende Aufgaben abzustimmen. Das gemeinsame Ziel des Projektes, welches im Rahmen des Erasmus+ Programms durch die EU gefördert wird, ist die Erstellung von digitalen Lerninhalten mithilfe von Augmented (AR) und Virtual Reality (VR) Technologien für die berufliche Bildung von Lernenden auf dem Autismusspektrum (ASS). Die italienische Hafenstadt Palermo diente als malerische Kulisse für dieses dritte Transnationale Projekt Meeting. Das Projektkonsortium besteht aus fünf Organisationen, die im Verbund alle Kompetenzen für die Realisierung der Projektziele abdecken. 

 Neben der der spanischen Organisation SkillsDivers, Experten im Bereich IKT Schulung, den finnischen Partnern vom Luovi Vocational College, ein Netzwerk berufsbildender Schulen für Menschen mit Beeinträchtigungen, und 3DBear, Experten auf dem Gebiet AR/VR im Bildungsbereich, sowie der italienischen Organisation IRSEI, die sich auf Bildungsinnovation und Forschung spezialisiert hat, komplettiert die OvGU das Konsortium als Projektmanager.

 Neben der Präsentation des Konzepts für eine Human-Centered-Design Methodologie zur Erstellung von XR-Lernumgebungen für Lernende mit ASS wurde vor allem die nun folgende Erschaffung von konkreten AR und VR Inhalten thematisiert. Aber auch abseits projektbezogener Inhalte bot das abwechslungsreiche Rahmenprogramm reichlich Gesprächsstoff. Eine Führung durch die historische Innenstadt Palermos, ein Essen in atemberaubender Kulisse über den Dächern der Stadt oder auch ein Ausflug in die Küstenstadt Cefalù hinterließen die Mitglieder des Konsortiums mit zahlreichen Erinnerungen. An dieser Stelle möchten wir unseren herzlichen Dank an die gastgebende Organisation Accademia IRSEI aussprechen, die mit ihrer erstklassigen Organisation und ihrer gastfreundlichen Atmosphäre zum Gelingen des Meetings maßgeblich beigetragen hat.

Between 30 May and 1 June, the members of the BitTheSpectrum project met again to exchange information about current developments and to coordinate upcoming tasks. The common goal of the project, which is funded by the EU within the Erasmus+ programme, is to create digital learning content using augmented (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies for the vocational training of learners on the autism spectrum (ASD). The Italian port city of Palermo served as a picturesque backdrop for this third Transnational Project Meeting. The project consortium consists of five organisations, which together cover all competences for the realisation of the project goals. 

 Besides the Spanish organisation SkillsDivers, experts in ICT training, the Finnish partners from Luovi Vocational College, a network of vocational schools for people with disabilities, and 3DBear, experts in the field of AR/VR in education, as well as the Italian organisation IRSEI, specialised in educational innovation and research, OvGU completes the consortium as project manager.

 In addition to the presentation of the concept for a human-centred design methodology for the creation of XR learning environments for learners with ASD, the main focus was on the creation of concrete AR and VR content. But even beyond the project-related content, the varied social programme offered plenty to talk about. A guided tour through the historic city centre of Palermo, a meal in a breathtaking setting above the rooftops of the city or an excursion to the coastal town of Cefalù left the members of the consortium with numerous memories. At this point, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the host organisation Accademia IRSEI, which contributed significantly to the success of the meeting with its first-class organisation and hospitable atmosphere.
